Assignment 2

The table below suggests targets to achieve for your design group. Each group will be required to submit a 500-1000 word summary that shows how you have addressed the target for the week. Your instructor will provide you with feedback on your progress and also a grade for the satisfactory completion of the mini-assignment. Please address Mini-Assignment for Step 1 with your Design Group. Note the due date for the mini-assignment in the course calendar.

MINI-ASSIGNMENT
1.
Identify a problem, need, or a challenge to traditional perspectives. Utilize personal observations, and/or prior experience and literature to provide evidence of the problem.
Group has identified an area for exploration and utilized the literature to problematize the area. The scope of the exploration or problem is clearly identified and at least 5 references are cited.
2.
Brainstorm solutions to the problem/need. Examine a theory of learning, teaching or a curriculum theory that can support your ideas or provide guidance. Utilize the literature to go in depth into the theory.
A design of a learning experience is proposed to explicitly address the problem. The design should include use of at least one form of digital technology. (The digital technology can be one that currently exists or one that is hypothesized by the group). A theory of learning is identified to provide a foundation for the design of a learning experience. Group shows some depth of knowledge on the theory and makes references to the literature.
3.
Determine pedagogical goals for the experience. Suggest several general purposes of digital technology for this experience. Forecast who can participate in this experience and what they will do (their roles). Consider how goals can be assessed.
At least three goals for the participants in the learning experience are proposed. The goals are synergistic with the problem and the design. Suggest at least three ways that digital technology might be helpful to achieving the goals.
4.
Name one or more specific digital technologies that can address one or more of the goals. (Candidate technologies include those discussed in Modules B and C in the course, those shown being used in videos in Module A or speculative technologies hypothesized by the group). Hypothesize affordances of the specific technologies that will be integrated in (or become) the learning space.
The candidate digital technologies that will be incorporated in the space are named (one or more technologies). The cognitive and social affordances of the digital technology are elaborated in some detail, with some reference to the literature or scholarly opinion about these technologies.
5.
Design a single artefact, such as a lesson plan, website, screenshot, blog, proposal for a simulation. Ensure that artefact is coordinated with the pedagogical goals.
The artefact that has been planned to be developed, its scope, and depth are suggested. Provide one example or an outline, sketch, plan, or summary if possible.
6.
Continue to develop the artefact for the assignment. Revisit specific technologies that will be integrated in or become the learning space-are there some that should be added or taken away? Ensure that assignment materials are explicitly coordinated with the pedagogical goals.

7.
Review the work for conceptual coherence, thick description, and scholarly depth. Refer to the assignment criteria, the assessment rubric and guiding questions in Module B once again to support your self- assessment of your work to date. Make revisions as necessary.

8.
Collaboration Manager should submit the completed assignment on behalf of the group.
